Our hugely popular football sessions run throughout the year on Saturday mornings at 1030 and are for boys and girls age 3-11 and open to all abilities.
AUTUMN TERM BOOKINGS OPEN – TERM DATES – 06 SEPTEMBER – 20 DECEMBER
The weekly session runs on Wandsworth Common in the Dog Free Zone (the fenced off area next to the Skylark Cafe by Dorlcote Road but if there is a lot of cricket taking place, you’ll find us on the grass on the other side of the path, by the pull up bars) and we welcome everyone aged 3 to 11. The kids are all split down into age groups so they’re working alongside others of a similar ability.
It is also possible for you to set up your own private football group, all you need is between 8 and 10 children who are keen to have fun playing football, want to learn and are happy to listen!
Our high level of football coaching expertise is used to develop the skill and technique of each child. We structure session plans that aim for specific learning outcomes of mobility, fitness, technical ability, strategy & social skills;
- Mobility – to develop speed, agility, co-ordination and flexibility
- Fitness – to increase cardio-vascular fitness and endurance levels
- Technical ability – to improve control and passing
- Strategy – for discipline, positioning, teamwork and awareness
- Social skills – to teach the value of winning (but not over character and performance), listening, interaction and interpersonal
We play small sided games i.e. 2 v 2 and 4 v 4, as these give each child the opportunity to get plenty of touches of the ball helping them to become more comfortable and improve their skills and tricks – this is vital to a child’s development and greatly improves their confidence.
We run these sessions throughout the year but may have to cancel occasional sessions due to waterlogged pitches in Winter and for a couple of weekends in August due to the holidays. Do please check our ‘weekly classes’ page (and social media) which we will update with details of any cancelled sessions.
